Understanding his backstory and signature technique offers players a deeper appreciation for his role in Link's epic journey.
The Pride and Origins of the Rito Champion
Among the Champions of Hyrule, Revali possessed an unmatched dedication to refining his aerial combat skills in Rito Village. Driven by fierce ambition, he viewed himself as the most qualified hero to defeat the Calamity rather than serving as support. His outward arrogance often masked a deep desire for recognition and the relentless discipline required to master the bow.
When King Rhoam and Princess Zelda approached him to pilot Divine Beast Vah Medoh, Revali accepted the task with immense pride. He continuously pushed his limits to develop techniques that no other Rito archer could replicate, proving his exceptional martial prowess. Mastering Revali's Gale and Aerial Combat
Revali's signature creation, known as Revali's Gale, allows him to create powerful vertical updrafts at will to leap high into the sky. This incredible ability grants him instantaneous high-ground advantage, enabling devastating slow-motion archery attacks against enemies below. In gameplay, unlocking this Champion power provides Link with extraordinary traversal flexibility across Hyrule's massive mountainous landscapes.
Utilizing Revali's Gale significantly alters exploration strategies by bypassing difficult cliffs and harsh weather conditions. Combined with the Great Eagle Bow, this power represents the pinnacle of Rito combat technology and mobility. Understanding how to manage its cooldown allows players to navigate dungeons and open terrain with maximum efficiency.
The Fate of Divine Beast Vah Medoh
During the sudden onset of the Great Calamity, Revali boarded Vah Medoh to launch an aerial assault against Ganon's forces. However, he encountered Windblight Ganon, a formidable scourge designed specifically to counter his ranged playstyle in total darkness. Despite his supreme skill, Revali was ultimately defeated, leaving his spirit trapped within the Divine Beast for a century.
When Link frees Vah Medoh a hundred years later, Revali's spirit bestows his legendary gale upon the hero. Though he maintains his sarcastic demeanor, he quietly acknowledges Link's strength and aids in the final battle against Calamity Ganon. His legacy endures as a testament to the dedication, skill, and pride of the Rito tribe.
